This is in response to the picture of the diesel ad posted by httppornthink. I think this ad goes perfect with what we were just learning in class about obscenity, where do people draw the lines on what is inappropriate to be printed for the world to see. Yes this ad definitely will draw a persons attention and of course sex sells so it makes people interested in the ad but do they really need to go that far as showing a half naked male body. I know this ad is about fashion and the fashion industry usually uses very sexual illustrations and pictures to draw their audience in and want to buy their products. But this ad really pushed my buttons this ad is border line of being very fashionable and being considered pornography. I was personally appalled that they would even print something like this and think its ok. What I also don’t get is why doesn’t the government or someone step in and make laws about what is allowed to be shown and printed on billboards and magazines, so more ads like this aren’t printed for the world to see. These types of ads are in everyday fashion magazines and I know that its not just adults reading these magazines so do young teenage girls. What type of message are the fashion industry trying to give out to teenagers, that it’s ok for girls to be half naked with men just because they are very fashionable its just not right the message that they are giving off when printing this type of ad.
